Commissioned Planning and Design (including Adaptation Plan) and Pipeline System Evaluation for Tai-Chung Branch Industry Tobacco Redrying Facility Building Complex

Design concept

The “Taichung Branch Office Tobacco Redrying Factory Complex,” located in Dali District, Taichung City, is an important architectural complex that represents the tobacco industry in Taichung from the Japanese colonial period to the post-war era. It holds significant historical and cultural value.

The buildings within the complex were constructed in different periods to meet the changing needs of the tobacco industry. The “Steam Tank Room” was built in 1942 during the Showa era. After the war, the office building (later used as a recreation room) and the staff cafeteria (later used as a grand hall) were added. Subsequent additions and renovations included the barrel tobacco warehouse, boiler room, bathroom, and re-drying room. The layout and planning of the factory area bear witness to the development and transformation of the tobacco leaf industry in Taichung over time.

Building scale

The total land area is 52,189.18 square meters.
