Restoration and Reuse Project for Ji-Ji Camphor Extraction Office Building Complex, including Planning, Design (including Adaptation Plan), Supervision, and Technical Service for Work Reports
Design concept
The Jiji Camphor Oil Branch Office building complex was constructed during the Japanese colonial period and features typical Japanese architectural styles and structures. It holds significant historical and socioeconomic importance in the early development of the camphor industry in Taiwan. It is also one of the few remaining camphor oil branch office complexes in Taiwan that retains its original configuration and structure, providing clear insights into the historical development of the industry.
The goal is to restore the buildings and recreate the historical context through historical site reconstruction. Through integrated resources and collaboration across regions and disciplines, the aim is to revitalize the existing space and engage local participation.
By reconnecting and exchanging historical memory, cultural context, and local life, the project aims to establish a sustainable and cyclical ecosystem.
