Tai-Wu New Village Planning and Design, including On-site Workstation and Restoration and Reuse Project
Design concept
Taiwu New Village was constructed in 1964, featuring two-story reinforced brick structures and a unique “Type A Quarters” with four units in a standalone building. In March 2009, it was registered as a historic building in Taoyuan City. Considering the restoration and reuse of Taiwu New Village’s quarters, and in accordance with cultural heritage and related regulations, the project aims to balance the preservation of cultural assets and the assessment of environmental risks. It proposes a plan for the establishment of a “residential community for metalworking artists/creative professionals,” accommodating the needs of residency and regional development. The plan allows for the establishment of facilities such as dining venues, cafes, and creative retail stores. It encompasses a maker space with a collaborative working environment, artist-in-residence spaces, an 823 Bombardment Memorial Hall/Taiwu New Village Story Museum, specialty retail stores, and distinctive dining spaces/combined dining areas.
